There are more niches out there than you can count. Personally, I'm involved in several myself. They are all quite different from each other. Why am I telling you this and why does it matter? Well, having a great product or service isn't enough. I know that it should be, but it's not. The way you present that product or service is equally important. And in order to present it properly, you have to know your audience. What do I mean by that? The best way to explain it is with examples.
One niche that I am obviously involved in is Internet marketing and making money online. Now, there is one thing that all the people interested in this niche have in common. They all want to make money. Now, all different kinds of people want to make money...young and old...all races..etc. So you are really targeting a very wide group of people. When you are targeting a niche that is that diverse, you MUST be as generic with your approach as possible. You can't slant your message to any one group. For example, you can't focus heavily on putting away for retirement. The young folks aren't thinking of that right now. They just want lots of cash so they can go out and have a good time. You need to focus on the generic concept of financial freedom. Everybody can relate to that.
Now, let's take a look at the niche of natural treatment for breast cancer and say you have a natural treatment for that problem. In this case, you are targeting a very specific group or people. They are all women and they are most likely between the ages of 30 and 55. In this case, you have to speak to them like you would speak to a woman and with a very caring tone. These women are going through a difficult time right now and need caring and compassion. They don't need a sales pitch. The type of emails you would send to these people are totally different in tone than the ones you would send to people who want to be financially independent.
I could go on with examples, but I think you get the point. You have to put yourself in the head of the person you are trying to reach. You have to understand what they are thinking and feeling. Once you are able to do that, if you have any kind of writing ability at all, you should be able to communicate with them effectively and turn them into paying customers.
