Profitable Affiliate Marketing - Maintaining Repeat Visitors

by Neil Morrical

People will seldom make a purchase the first time they are pitched a sale. This is why you have to get them to come back again and again. As a site owner you have to peak their interest in you website in order to accomplish this. You can only be successful in affiliate marketing if you manage to get them to view your product reviews multiple times and get them considering making a purchase. Here are a few techniques for getting your visitors to return to your affiliate marketing review pages.
Appearance
Your site does not necessarily have to look like Yahoo, but it does have to look professional. People have a habit now of rapid click-throughs. They are used to the nice appearances of MySpace, Facebook, and many others, so when they come across something that does not look too "official" they click Back in seconds. Your header can do a lot of work for you in this aspect. If you do not know how to use Photoshop or any of the many other softwares out their like Gimp (which is free), then I suggest hiring someone to do your graphics for you. You'd be surprised with the level of quality you can get in a header for $50. Try visiting the Warrior Forum. There you can find all kinds of Graphics Developers.
Resources
Offer your visitors something of value such as good advice in articles, free tools, ect. This will get them coming back again and again, since they will begin to see your site as a resource. I personally offer numerous free tools for affiliate marketing for this purpose. Additionally, when you offer something of good value for free, people remember you and will be inclined to do business with you in the future.
Newsletter
A newsletter really requires less effort than you think. The primary requirement for a newsletter is an autoresponder. I personally use Aweber for all of my email opt-ins. Newsletters are another way to give out valuable tips and advice, which will get people returning to your site through the link within the email. Here's a good tip: Use your autoresponder to capture emails and let people automatically subscribe to your newsletter. Here's the twist: Make your newsletter on your site and simply provide a link in the email to the current newsletter page.
The bonus of placing your newsletter on your site's pages is that you can make it look much better, you can easily place banner ads below it, and best of all; you are contributing to your site's content and making your site grow. Additionally, you can organize your newsletters by date, so that people can view old newsletters for tips and advice as well. Finally, when it comes timefor you to pomote one of your affiliate marketing review pages really hard, you can send out an email and center that newsletter around the product review. Just remember not to burn out your list. For every promotional email, you should have 4-5 good informational emails (newsletters).
