Fast Social Bookmarking - Tag It Correctly for Profitable Social Bookmarking

by Sean R Mize

Everyone does it. We surf the web in search of websites we'll need for future reference or for a new add-on to our blog's Favorites list to share with friends or visitors. Whatever the case may be, we just can't help being a social bookmarker. The Internet, after all, is one big community. But did you know that your little habit of bookmarking can actually become profitable? Well, that is if you tag it right after signing up to a reputable service provider such as Del dot icio dot us, Google, Technorati, Digg, Squidoo, Yahoo-myweb, Furl, and Reddit after implementing a powerful social bookmarking script in your site. And of course after you have signed up to an affiliate marketing program such as Google AdSense.
Here are some tips on how to tag it right and get the most profit from social bookmarking:
1. Implement a standard set of keywords - The common mistake Internet users make when tagging their bookmarks is they have no standard set of keywords. Most of the time, tagging is done on a personalized basis creating a highly unorthodox system of organizing saved/recorded websites. Implementing a standard set of keywords whenever you tag a website you like increases the chances of a more organized record/list. The more common and appropriate the set of words you use for tagging, the higher the chances for search engine optimization and site traffic.
2. Have a standard structure for tags - In the same way, having a standard structure for tags as to whether to use capitals, italicized style, singular, plural, et. use of words in attributing or classifying a saved website link creates consistency and higher traffic.
3. Refrain from using double-meaning words - Clarity is the key. Thus, there is a need to refrain using words with double-meanings whenever tagging a website link to avoid confusion. This will ensure influx of targeted traffic to your website.
4. Use a hierarchical relationship - There should be a clear mechanism in use for users or visitors to identify the hierarchical relationships of tags used in your website. Proper and careful labeling should be at play.
