Essentials Needed for Running an Internet Business

by Christopher Raine

In order to have a smooth running internet marketing business, there are some essential steps that you need to take to begin with. There are many other things beyond the points I shall discuss here, that many would have you believe that you need straight away, however a lot of thetime they won't be needed now and possibly never.
So what are these steps, well quite simply they are the essential tools that you need to start your on-line business. You don't need every tool to get started, just the most important ones and then you can consider adding additional tools later as you need them.
If you were to try and do everything at once, not only will you face getting yourself into debt, you will also find it extremely confusing. The knock on effect of this becomes discouragement and despair, so be careful not to go down this road.
It is very important to your Internet Marketing Future that you get this balance correct and concentrate your efforts where they need to be. You will read on many occasions that it is not necessary to have a website to make a living on-line, and if some one is following a plan to promote affiliate products, then in some ways this can be correct.
However, there are compelling reasons to have a website whether promoting other peoples products or your own. So just for that lets work on the premise of having a website, what will you need?
Firstly you will need a domain name.
1.Domain Name:
This will be the URL (Website address) where people will be able to find your website. When choosing your domain name it is important that you choose it with care, ideally your domain should have something to with your business, possibly the product name for example. It should contain keywords pertaining to your product or service. So for an Internet business just ensure that whatever your chosen domain name it reflects the market or product you are marketing.
2.Web Host Account:
After you have your domain name, you need to arrange an hosting account in order to have somewhere to put your website. The combination of domain name and hosting account is what makes your site visible. It is possible to have your domain and hosting with the same provider, but I would advise that you keep them separate.
So how do you choose which companies to use, well every one will have their own views on this, a possible way of finding out a consensus is to visit on-line marketing forums and see what everyone is saying with regards to hosting. You need to choose an hosting package which as the functionality you need, and reliability.
Some companies you could look at for domains or hosting would be Godaddy, name cheap, hostgator and host monster to name a few. All of these in my opinion would provide all the features that you would need and are noted for their reliability.
3.Newsletter:
All right I mentioned earlier that it is possible to have an internet business working around affiliate products, and without a website. However, if you do this you are working hard to promote some one else's product and not securing any personal information for future marketing.
It is a well known fact that someone may need to see an offer made to them up to seven times before they buy. If you send traffic direct to the vendors page, you can rest assured that they will capture that persons details. The middle step is to have a landing or squeeze page, but I'm not going into too much detail within this article. The thing to remember is that whether your own product or someone else's, you need to have a format for capturing data.
In exchange for their name and email address you will give them free valuable information that they can use for whatever it is that they are doing. You have to make sure that the information is something of value because if it is not then you will end up losing customers.
When you have a newsletter you will be starting a list of names and email addresses that you can market your business to more than once. This will give you customers that are easily available to you for any marketing you want to do. You will also be able to concentrate on finding more customers to sign up to your list.
4.Auto Responder:
In order to deliver your newsletter, your free course, free report you will need to have an auto responder. Automating your business whenever possible is of vital importance, and having the services of an auto responder certainly fits the bill for effective automation and time saving. This will make it so much easier on you, without this valuable resource you would have to manually send out your newsletter to everyone that signs up.
With an auto responder you will be automating your newsletter to get sent to people right after they sign up. On submitting information in the opt-in form of your newsletter, their name and email address is directed to the auto responder, and then messages will be sent to your subscribers based upon the frequency you have set.
In summary by using an auto responder and hence automating this part of your business you will be freeing up your time so you can concentrate on other tasks that you have to do in order for your business to become successful.
5.Website:
I'm sure by now you will see the need for a website, even when marketing other peoples products only. This is where people can find out about your products and services, and hopefully buy from you. If you don't know how to build your website, then you can hire someone to do this for you, although this may prove expensive. The other ways are seeing if you can find a plug and play ready to go business in a box which meets your requirements, or the last alternative is to build your own site, either by learning HTML (Hyper Text Mark-up Language) or you can use an editor such as Front page to help you do it. The choice is is the most important tool that you will need.
These are what I consider to be the most essential tools to starting your on-line business. Research your options wisely and pick one that best fits your needs.
